Frankie and Isabel's Journey

Isabel, 9 months old, Emergency Department patient
9 month old Isabel has been admitted to the Emergency Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick on numerous occasions to be treated for respiratory illnesses. Luckily, the dedicated Emergency staff were able to respond quickly and efficiently to her each time, which meant her condition never developed into something more critical. Isabel’s mum Sarah says, “Each time we visit Emergency at the Hospital we are so impressed with the expertise and care given by the staff. Isabel is lucky to have been cared for by such dedicated people.”

Frankie, 7 months old, Emergency Department patient
7 month old Frankie was admitted to the Emergency Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, after she swallowed a pine needle in the park and it became lodged in her throat. She was gagging because of the obstruction but luckily Frankie could still breathe. Emergency staff reacted quickly to remove the pine needle, and much to her family’s relief, Frankie was allowed to return home. Mum Georgia says, “I’ve been to Emergency at the Hospital with my other daughter before, so I knew Frankie would be in good hands. I know I can rely on the Hospital staff to care for my little daughters.”
